Originally from Croatia, Petra Zanki is Seattle based choreographer and theatre maker that holds a MA in Literature and French from the University of Zagreb. She pursued her Theatre and Performance Art studies at the Sorbonne University in Paris, and additionaly studied with Emio Greco, Jonathan Burrows, Goat Island/Lin Hixon, Gob Squad, Rimini Protokoll, Patricia Bardi, Stefan Kaegi/Rimini Protokoll, Trisha Bauman, and Kilina Cremona. In 2010 Petra was awarded the best Croatian choreographer at XI. Platform, and from 2011 to 2013 was artist in residence at the Zagreb Dance Center. In 2012 she was selected among six European choreographers to receive the two-year scholarship SPAZIO from The ICK- Amsterdam/Emio Greco and Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance. Her works were presented across Europe, in the US, and Australia. Her insightful take on the international arts curation system, The Curator's Piece, has been performed all over the world to critical and audience acclaim. In the US she collaborated with On the Boards, Velocity, La Mama, and PS122. In 2016 she was a recipient of the choreographers' residency at the University of Washington. Petra has also edited magazines and written articles on dance and performance, and is a current On the Boards 2016/2017 season writer ambassador. She has performed at On the Boards, PS122, and Velocity, and recently mounted her new solo work "365" at the Velocity Dance Center.
