Born in Liberty, Robert Zverina grew up on Long Island, NY among three generations of Czech ex-pat political refugees. He rowed for Cornell (BA '91), studied poetry with Allen Ginsberg at Brooklyn College (MFA '94), and has worked variously as teacher, lifeguard, carpenter, editor, promoter, and activist to support his storytelling practice.

Initially skeptical about computers and the internet, in 1997 he launched the ongoing Picture of the Day website (www.zverina.com), paving the way for future bloggers with an autobiographical mix of creative nonfiction, photography, and multimedia elements. This year he expects to complete his 2,000th handcoded HTML page.

A prolific documenter, his robZtv (www.robZtv.com) film series is an epic video memoir comprised of tens of thousands of pocket camera clips informed by the "decisive moment" school of street photography. With six DVDs published and another dozen planned robZtv forms an unprecedented personal document of the times.

Most recently he published BUZZ (www.buzzthebook.com), a critically acclaimed novel about growing up in New York among three generations of Czech ex-pat political refugees.

He lives in Seattle, visits Prague often, and dreams of green oceans. He'd love to hear from you.
