Paige Barnes is a dance artist, exploring themes of animal symbolism, viscera, heroism, fragility, ritual, and autobiographical feminist experiences. Her work creates emotional landscapes of movement sensation and the architecture of space.

With a BA in Dance from the University of Washington, Paige has been creating and performing since 1996. She has presented work in Ecuador, Cuba, Mexico, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. She worked closely with Ecuadorian choreographer Pablo Cornejo (1998-2004); together they co-founded Locate Performance Group and Open Flight Studio. Additionally, Paige is a co-founder and curator of HERE/NOW, a dance and music improvisation series (2009-2012). She is a grant recipient of The Bossak/Heilbron Charitable Foundation, City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, Artist Trust, danceWEB (Vienna, Austria), ArtsWA, and Pacific Northwest Dance Lab. Paige is also a GYROTONIC® practitioner and currently pursues a MS in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University.

Paige explores how to undo boundaries in method, form, perception, and experience. Notably, in her last evening length work, NAKED, Paige and musician Amy Denio performed naked for a naked female audience of six. Throughout her work, her dances are blatantly vulnerable; they express a personal journey. She aims to unmask an emotional landscape to explore consciousness and belonging.
