MIGUEL GARCIA is a writer and executive producer of the Los Angeles-based short play festival, Brown & Out. He grew up in El Monte, CA, and went on to study English and theater at Georgetown University, graduating with an honors degree in 2007. At Georgetown, his writing culminated in a staged reading of his play, Glory, at the John F. Kennedy Center's Page-to-Stage Festival. As a writing student at Casa 0101 Theater, he developed Brown & Out as an annual short play festival celebrating the Latino/a LGBTQ experience that first premiered in September 2011 at Casa 0101 Theater. Since then, he has launched 3 seasons of Brown & Out for a total of 29 short plays, which include his works: Mayhem, GayMex, Gay Cholo Charm School, Butch Juice, The Foundation For A Better Gay Brown Life, The Morning After: Part 2, Three Rooms, and Safe. This past May, Brown & Out premiered at the 10th International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, where the show earned two award nominations from the Festival Committee for "Best Actress" and "Best Aspect of Production."
