Lee Renninger

Member Since 2/2/11

From thousands of bound porcelain parts, Lee Renninger creates installations referencing the world of fashion couture. This "by the hand" principle is a reflection of Renninger's autodidactism and the folk art traditions that helped to inform her early work. She has fabricated afghans, shag rugs and lace, using only ceramic and thread.  She is currently investigating what it means to be clothed and how the "dress" can speak of the things we leave behind.  Based in Gulfport, Mississippi, Renninger is the recipient of fellowships from the Pollock Krasner Foundation and the Camargo Foundation.
