Emily began dancing with Alison Miller at the Ballet Academy in Beltsville, MD. She graduated high school and college (BFA) from the North Carolina School of the Arts and received an MFA in dance from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
Her choreography has been seen in New York City at the Food for Thought Series at St. Mark's Church: Dancespace Project, Carmine's Gym, the Context Theater, One Arm Red, the 92nd Street Y, the Second Avenue Dance Company, the West End Theater, and Ur and also in Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, North Carolina, Virginia and Brazil.
From 2003-2008, Emily performed with David Parker and the Bang Group, originating roles in many works, touring in the U.S. and in Europe, and assisting in teaching concepts and choreography during extended residencies at Barnard College (2006), the Juilliard School (2007), the Boston Ballet Summer Program (2007-2008) and the Summer Stages Dance Festival (2004-2008.) She has also performed for Patricia Nanon and Heather Olson. In 2011, Emily was honored to receive an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Mississippi Arts Commission for her choreography.
She has been on the artistic, fitness, or recreation faculties of the SESC Avenida, Parnaiba, Brazil, Northwestern State University, New York University, Delta State University, the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Cleveland Public School District, and the Delta Arts Alliance among other institutions.
Currently, Emily teaches ballet, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop dance techniques to beginner through professional levels of children and adults as well as dance composition, improvisation, acting, yoga, Performance & Audition Skills, Performance Ensemble, Business of Art, and Professional Development Workshops for the classroom teacher. She is a member of the Mississippi Arts Commission's Teaching Artist and Performing Artist Rosters and has received recent grant funds from MAC and the Puffin Foundation.
She serves on the board of the Delta Arts Alliance in Cleveland, MS which recently upgraded an old gas station into a beautiful dance studio with a sprung wood floor.
