FINAL FIVE DAYS, the countdown is on!!!

    Dear Friends,

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve raised $5,710.00 for my upcoming show, The Event! My goal is $6500.00 and I have $790.00 to raise by Sunday September 24th. I know we can do it!

If you haven’t had a chance to make a contribution, and are still thinking about it- now is the time. No amount is too small, or large. (And remember, your donations are tax-deductible.)

I’m grateful for all of your support! Please help us make it to the finish line!

We’re soon heading into rehearsals fulltime leading up to the premiere on October 19. We’ll also be sharing sections of the work at the Southeast Seattle Senior Center; I look forward to conversing with folks who don’t have much exposure to contemporary dance. Should be fun! And don’t forget: I’ll be offering a free class on September 27, 7-9:30pm, at Base, 6520 5th Ave. South, Seattle. It’s open to all, hope you can make it! RSVP: peggy@thisisbase.org

Thanks again for your contribution to this independent production. Your donation supports the all-star cast of amazing collaborative artists who are working to bring this show to its fullest potential!

    Warmest and best,

    Dearest Dance Lovers,

Today is a great day for The Event! We’re halfway through this fundraising campaign and have raised 30% of our target goal! Thank you everyone near and far for all your support!

We have two weeks left to raise an additional $2,665. If you haven’t already made a contribution, I hope that you will consider it. With your help, we can get to the three-quarter mark by the end of this weekend.

In the midst of all the tragedies of Hurricane Harvey and now Irma, my heart feels heavy, as I’m sure yours does, too. I struggle with the feeling of triviality in making art during these turbulent times. At the same time, I know the importance of what we as artists do. I work with these conflicting feelings by continuing to move forward with what I know to do—for me this is following the images that arise in my heart and mind. It is from this place that the creative act emerges. Hopefully, someone is moved and in some small way a connection is made and joy is sparked.

With autumn just around the corner, all production elements for The Event are coming together. In late September we will take up residency at Base. As part of the residency’s community outreach, I will be offering a free class on September 27th from 7-9:30pm at Base. In this movement-based exploratory lab open to all, I’ll share the choreographic process of making The Event. I’ll propose movement structures through which participants will move both individually and collectively. As we work, we’ll consider the meaning of trust as we engage the performative and choreographic elements of presence, time, and risk. We’ll end by talking about the joys and challenges inherent within any choreographic process.

Hope you can make it! Here is the information:

    When: Wednesday, September 27th
Where: Base, 6520 5th Ave South, Seattle
    Time: 7-9:30pm
    Cost: Free!
    RSVP: peggy@thisisbase.org

Thank you for taking the time to hear the latest. And thanks again for your support!

    Warmest and best,

    Here is the latest . . .

The Hatchfund fundraising campaign for my evening-length dance work, The Event, launched one week ago and we have raised 20% of our target goal. Thank you Seattle and beyond for your support!

Opening night is just six weeks away! We’ll begin a three-week residency soon at Base to put the finishing touches on the work before its October premiere. I’m beyond excited!

If you’re anxious to get a sneak peek of the work, please join us September 6 or 7 at 8pm for the Base Occasional. Along with the incredible cast of dance superstars-Ezra Dickinson, Kim Lusk, Wade Madsen and Amelia Reeber, I’ll be performing a solo adaptation of some of the material from The Event. We’ll be sharing the evening with these amazing dance artists: Dayna Hanson, Heather Kravas, and Maureen Whiting! Read more about the Base Occasional here: http://thisisbase.org/events/

Back to my campaign, I am aiming to raise $6500.00 by September 29th to cover artist fees, venue rental fees, and administrative costs for The Event. You’ll receive special perks in return for contributions so be sure to have a look.

If you can support this project with a tax-deductible donation, in any capacity, together we can continue to make Seattle a great place to make art. Sharing this project with others and sending me your thoughts are also very valuable ways to show your support.

You can read all about The Event and view a brief video about the project by clicking on this link: https: www.hatchfund.org/project/the_event

I cannot tell you how excited I am to share this work with you. Please consider making a donation today.

The Event follows the human spirit on its search for meaning within absurdity, as the soul is urged to purge what weighs it down.
