TEAM OUTCAST USA/EUROPE 2017
- Theater Arts
In August, 2015 a group of artists from the U.S., the U.K., Ireland and Germany met in Edinburgh, Scotland. All of us had performed for the theater group Outcast International at some point during the past 20 years, but most of us had never met. In two exhausting, intense days, the 15 of us came together to perform, in music, dance and dramatic performance, our interpretation of Sarah Ruhl's magical play, "Eurydice."
The experience was incredible, and we learned so much about ourselves as artists, about festival performance, and about Edinburgh, specifically. What we've been able to offer to our local communities has been enriched by what we've learned, and for this reason we are determined to return to Edinburgh in 2017, this time with a new piece - and one that we can share with our home audiences as well.
Several new people have joined this challenge, and our 2017 project team consists of artists from the U.S., the U.K., and Germany. We have chosen a piece that once again showcases the diverse talents of our groups, to be announced shortly.
Although the artists shoulder the costs of travel, our goal is to cover production costs - venue rental (2300), Fringe registration (400), royalties (800), marketing materials (250), public liability insurance (125), and set/costumes/props (250) - via our Hatchfund online fundraising campaign. Support above the minimum goal will be applied toward accomodations in Edinburgh for the 15 artists.
This time, to increase opportunities for our supporters to enjoy the perks associated with their donation, Outcast will perform PREVIEW PERFORMANCES of our Fringe piece in both Central New York and in Stuttgart, Germany. With free ticket offers, as well as valuable playbill advertising for local business sponsors, each tax deductile donation will represent a benefit to our supporters that hits close to home.
We are profoundly grateful to all who have supported Outcast - on both sides of the ocean - for the past 20 years. We hope that our video captures our amazement at the world that performing at the Fringe opened up for us, and helps you to understand why we are working so hard to share our unique collaboration once again.
