One Big Painting
- Visual Arts
For the past few years I have focused my studio practice specifically to abstract paintings on satin with tar and rubber. I would like to create one large painting. Currently I am limited to satin 60 inches wide. Because of this, I cannot create a painting larger than 50 inches in each direction. This project would require a custom manufactured roll of satin.
My paintings are loose narratives documenting the practice of which I process socially uncomfortable conversations about race, gender, and class. This One Big Painting will focus on my exodus from the Inland Empire to the east side of downtown Los Angeles, specifically the larger conversations about culture and individuality.
This project needs 3 sections of satin 300 in x 300 in in 3 different shades of brown. Each section will be stretched and fastened together to create One Big Painting. All of the sections will be painted with acrylic, tar, rubber and resin.
To complete this project I will need your help raising the $2,500 it will cost for materials and supplies. If I surpass my goal I will be able to acquire a larger reception for those who wish to view it. In the event that I am able to complete this project it will live on the second story of a commercial building in downtown Los Angles for the public to see. Please support this opportunity to provide a visual offering for my community.
