    Hello Likely Stories Supporters!

I am writing to let you know that I have been hard at work on the images for the series. In fact, several new images are at the printing service bureau right now! Several more are in development and will be completed in the months after I come back from an upcoming trip to Rome to teach in the UW Study Abroad program. I know that trip sounds like fun, but it is a lot of work, too, in an intense all day/every day program. I do have weekends off though!

In the meantime, thanks to you all again for your encouraging support! The series is planned to be completed for exhibition in 2019, and I will let you know more details as plans solidify.

    Happy Spring!

    Best wishes,

    Barbara

I am working hard now meticulously proofing eight new large pieces in the Likely Stories series to get them ready for service bureau printing. One is 88" long! I have some smaller prints ready to proof as well, with more of both sizes on the way after that. It is a long and exacting process to proof the pieces, essentially to make them look good in print and not just on screen. After the final prints are done, I will then copyright them and add them to my website. Progress!

Thanks to all of you for your support. Also, if any 2017 contributors would like to make another tax-deductible donation for 2018, please let me know, as I will come up with some new, special additional perks commensurate with such generosity! Let me know if you have any particular wishes for such perks!

Please also share this project with others you think might be interested. There are 37 more days to go to reach the target goal, and the project is now a little over half way there, thanks in part to you!

    Gratefully,
    Barbara

Thanks to Michael Upchurch in the Seattle Times Jan. 2nd, who wrote about my work the “Making Our Mark” show at the Bellevue Arts Museum:
“For me, the eye-catching figurative pieces are the highlight of the show….‘Revolution (climate change bowling ball)’ by Barbara Noah shows earth in a state of alarm. Noah achieves her effect by cutting three holes in a NASA photograph of our planet – one for its horror-stricken mouth and two for its panicky eyes.”

A new piece from the Likely Stories series is in the exhibition Making Our Mark at the Bellevue Arts Museum, curated by Michael W. Monroe, Director Emeritus of BAM and Curator-in-Charge of the Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum. The piece included in the show, Revolution, is an image of the earth as a bowling ball, which also looks like a shocked emoji, responding to the threat of climate change (and hopeful that the green revolution will prevail). I am happy to have been included in this excellent exhibition!

A heartfelt thank you to Allan McCollum, Steve Szilagyi, and Valerie Schurman for their donations to the Likely Stories Project!

"Likely Stories" is a series of pigment prints of metaphoric objects in distant skies, alluding to aspiration and transcendence with humor.
