Jamaica Drum Jam, Inc. brings people together through drumming. We are a not-for-profit organization which bring music performances and workshops to low and moderate income individuals in NYC.  In addition to being enjoyable for its own sake, research shows that music has many benefits. From improving mood, increasing a sense of well-being, developing fine motor skills to building camaraderie and improving mathematical skills, music is an essential part of every culture. Sadly, low and moderate income neighborhoods which could benefit from music programs are also most at risk of budget cuts to these programs. Your donation to Jamaica Drum Jam, Inc. will help keep music education in New York City's most vulnerable communities.

This fundraising campaign ends on February 14th, Valentine's Day 2014. Show some love and keep music education in our communities by donating now! Check out our romantically-themed perks.

How Your Donation Helps

*We plan to pay our workshop facilitators for the time they spend creating and adjusting their lesson plans, preparing for the workshop and facilitating the workshop. *We have to purchase, replace or repair instruments. Sometimes our younger musicians in training get very excited and a drumstick or drum head may snap.  *We need to purchase arts & craft supplies for our popular Found Sounds workshop. In this workshop families construct percussion instruments by recycling ordinary household objects. After their instruments have a chance to dry, we form a drum circle and play music together. This is great for children as well as adults who need to practice their fine motor skills. *We offer the guests of our workshop some light refreshments such as juice, water, cookies and chips. It's not always easy for youngsters to pay attention to the task at hand, and making sure they aren't hungry is a simple easy way to help them. *We have other general administrative and operational costs that are just part of running a younger smaller organization. While these aren't as fun to pay for as new instruments, they are necessary for putting on a good program.
