Harrisburg Dance festival

by Michael Rioux

We are teaming with Susquehanna Art Museum and Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center to produce the first annual Harrisburg Dance Festival. It will be a free festival with events throughout the month of June.

The Festival’s mission is to present a wide variety of excellent dance, enrich the lives of the people of Harrisburg and provide increased accessibility to the art form, thereby helping create a new audience. Its vision is to further establish the city of Harrisburg as a cultural destination.

Harrisburg and the surrounding cities are full of young dance students, dance studios, and regional youth dance companies but there is no professional dance scene. We see this first year of the festival as phase one of a three phase plan:

Phase 1- Successfully produce a festival of dance, bringing together national dance artists… energizing the general public, and dance students of the region around the art form of dance leading to…

Phase 2- The founding of Harrisburg Dance Theater, a professional contemporary dance company. Further contributing to the growth and enrichment of the city of Harrisburg.

Phase 3- Growing the festival in its second year to include first class dance companies, and student and regional youth company performances.

Please make a tax deductible donation to the Harrisburg Dance Festival today.

We provide training in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Creative Movement, Triple Threat, Zumba® Fitness and Acting classes.
