Our goal is to take this presentation on tour in Florida, throughout the U.S.A., and globally! Each show requires a minimum of $1,200. Every time we raise $2,500, we are able to perform two shows that we can perform at a community center, college, university, library, cultural center, senior center or theater.  The funds enable us to pay the 8-woman ensemble of musicians and provide ground transportation, lodging,

AMAZING MUSICWOMEN © 1997 Joan Cartwright, M.A. is a singular work that uses herstorical overview, songs, photographs, and artwork, to chronicle the lives of women who composed and performed blues and jazz music, including Gertrude "Ma" Rainey, Bessie Smith, Alberta Hunter, Ethel Waters, Lil Harding Armstrong, Mary Lou Williams, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughn, Marian McPartland, Dorothy Donegan, Melba Liston, Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter, Carmen McRae, Joanne Brackeen, Tania Maria, Toshiko Akiyoshi and others. Concert selections include compositions of Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Billie Holiday, Cole Porter, Norman Mapp and Joan Cartwright. and much, much more!

Based on the book by Joan Cartwright - Amazing Musicwomen - this one to two-hour performance is well received by audiences from 3-12th grades to seniors.  It has the ability to expand into two more presentations about 20 more legendary women musicians. These women were the first civil rights works, who expressed their personal freedom through blues and jazz musical performance.  Their stories offer encouragement to young women who aspire to be musicians. As women musicians are marginalized in the commercial music industry, this presentation exhibits the work done by women in the 20th century.

We are asking for $2,500 to fund two performances of this presentation. Should we raise more funds, we will be able to book additional shows, in our tri-county area or in other counties in Florida.  Our ultimate goal is to raise enough funds to take the presentation on a five-state tour, including northern Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and North Carolina.  The more the presentation is seen, the greater the probability that we will be booked at other venues, across the nation.

We are most honored and grateful to those who see the value of supporting women musicians, especially, our 8-woman ensemble of three vocalists, one dancer, and four instrumentalists.
