Paul has been a professional photographer in Oregon since 2007, and for 3 years before that in Northern California. He had been photographing portraits and travel imagery for 20 years before that as an amateur. He was awarded a scholarship to the Arts Academy University in San Francisco and has received awards for his images from Nikon and various organizations. His professional work includes business portraits, architectural photography, product photography, and travel imagery. Paul is a civic activist, having served as the Mayor of San Carlos, CA in 1993, as well as being on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in San Carlos, and Tualatin, OR. He has volunteered in various planning and budget roles at the local and county levels. His past work history also includes 17 years in the energy business and 6 years in the U.S. Congress. 

 

He has a Masters in International Relations from Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International studies in Washington, D.C. He has traveled to over 70 countries throughout Asia, Africa, South America, the Middle East, and Europe. 

Paul also volunteers as Co-Chairperson of the Portland, Oregon- Mutare (Zimbabwe) Sister City Association (www.aidsresponse.org). That organization has raised about $150,000 in the past ten years to support education and health initiatives in eastern Zimbabwe (africaaidsresponse.org).
