Kasumi is an internationally celebrated experimental film maker, VJ, musician, writer and producer. Her films have screened worldwide: from Lincoln Center with The New York Philharmonic to collaborations with Grandmaster Flash and DJ Spooky. She was featured artist at Württembergischen Kunstverein Stuttgart and at the Chroma Festival de Arte Audiovisual, Guadalajara, and her film, BREAKDOWN, which premiered at Carnegie Hall with the American Composers Orchestra, won the 2010 Vimeo Remix Award. While in Japan, her soundtrack performance of Oginsama, starring Toshiro Mifune, was nominated for an Academy award and she collaborated with the late Pat Morita in writing two film scripts. Her film "The Free Speech Zone," cited in The Encyclopedia of Underground Movies, was featured at the Forum des Images in Paris.
