It has been said that jazz is best experienced live. I couldn't agree more. It is for this reason that I'm so excited to announce my first live record.

Many fans have asked when I would put out a live record. Well, here it is...Following two highly acclaimed studio recordings, Unicity (Voted "Best album of 2007" - Downbeat) and Poesia, Live in New York features the same all-star line-up with John Patitucci and  Brian Blade during a three night stint at one of New York's top jazz clubs, the Jazz Standard. John, Brian and I first played together on the Grammy Award nominated album Songs, Stories and Spirituals. The quemistry between us was such that I instantly made it my mission to continue our collaboration. The result was Unicity, our first studio recording, and following that was Poesía, both on CAM Jazz. Now for the first time, I'm delighted to bring to our listeners our live work. Professionally recorded by Tom Lazarus, this recording captures pristinely the dynamic interplay that occurs when the three of us come together on stage. Only the live setting provides the vibrancy that inspires free, extended improvisations like those that took place. During those performances you'll hear us stretch, reach and take chances as we play my original compositions, John Coltrane's "Giant Steps" and Tom Jobim's "Double Rainbow".

The Trio Live in New York CD will be marketed and distributed by Sunnyside records and is scheduled for release on April 23rd.

However, we can't do this without you. Your support is an integral part of this project. Above and beyond the pleasure you'll derive from listening to this recording time and time again, there are many rewards to be had including: an autographed copy of the CD, my two previous trio recordings (Poesía & Unicity) autographed, T-shirts, the original poster of the performance "Live at the Jazz Standard" autographed (only one available!) and guest passes to our next show in NY.

If our minimun goal is reached the funds will be utilized to defray the costs of musicians fees, album artwork, mastering and club name use rights. Any additional funds raised will help recup the costs of recording engineer fees, videographer fees, piano technitian fee, travel costs, but most importantly will make it possible to hire a publicist, an essential part in the success of the recording.

It is my life's work to bring quality music to your ears. This project, being my first live recording, with some of the finest improvising musicians in the world, stands to be a most important addition to my discography and a milestone in my artistic work. I hope that you will embark on this project with me.

I thank you in advance for your support.
