Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)

BAM presented its first performance in 1861 and began operations in its present building in 1908. The Academy is a not-for-profit institution that has grown into a model urban arts center focused on both international issues in the arts and local community needs. Brooklyn Academy of Music has a worldwide reputation as a leader in terms of artistic innovation, presenting international performing arts and film projects to our audience.

The first Brooklyn Academy of Music facility at 176-194 Montague Street was originally conceived by the Philharmonic Society of Brooklyn as a home for its concerts.
