How We Work

Hatchfund has helped hundreds of artists just like you raise over $14.2 million for their projects.

75% of our artists raise the money they need.

And here's why:

Unlike the other crowdfunding sites that take a 7-10% fee for using their platform, Hatchfund is free for artists. Once you reach your minimum goal, everything you raise is yours–we won’t take any fees. In order to do this, we do ask that donors make two additional donations–one is a minimum 5% donation to Hatchfund and the other is a 5% donation to help cover credit card processing costs. Both of these donations are also tax-deductible for donors.
Match Funds are a direct donation to an artist’s project. These funds helps artists succeed and reach their goal faster by offering direct and matching grant challenges from individuals, groups, corporations, and foundations. All Match Funds are unique depending on the donor’s intent. There are different types, such as geographic- or discipline-specific funds. When the match guidelines are met, these funds become automatically available to an artist’s project in real time.
Our goal is to help artists successfully navigate the challenging world of online fundraising for their projects. Our expert team provides educational services, from fundraising 101 to case studies and best practices to project development and outreach support. A total of 75% of all artists who have turned to Hatchfund have succeeded in funding their projects.
Once you’re approved as an artist and you start a project draft, you’re assigned a project manager. Your project manager’s goal is to make sure that your project description, video, itemized budget, and donor perks are all compelling, authentic to your voice as an artist, and utilize that urgency factor. They are also your fundraising coach helping you to tailor your emails, utilize social media, and understand the “art” of asking.
All donations to Hatchfund are tax deductible to the full extent of the law because they simultaneously support artists’ projects and the nonprofit mission of Hatchfund. Donors receive an immediate email receipt acknowledging their donation. Hatchfund, powered by AIM, is a not-for-profit organization with IRS 501(c)(3) tax exemption status.

I really appreciated the support and flexibility provided by [my Hatchfund] project manager. She was great!

I definitely would use Hatchfund again for personal or professional projects. I especially appreciated the timely, professional support person that was assigned to my project, Erin Cooper.
